CPI & CHARM REU Program

CPI & CHARM REU Program

The Center for Plastics Innovation (CPI) and the Center for Hybrid, Active, and Responsive Material (CHARM) are looking for the next generation of scientists and engineers to participate in our 2023 Summer Undergraduate Research Program. In the CPI Summer program, students will spend the summer tackling critical issues surrounding plastics waste recycling and upcycling in an interdisciplinary environment. Students in the CHARM REU program will be focused on soft materials (developing nature-inspired, computationally designed materials) and hard materials (tomorrow's terahertz technologies). In addition to experimental work, program participants will engage in weekly professional development workshops, join industrial and national lab site visits, and have their work showcased at an end-of-the-summer research symposium.

Other program features include:

  • 10-week, full-time, summer research experience (June 5 - August 11)
  • Research projects with graduate students and faculty mentorship
  • Research seminars
  • $6,000 stipend for each student
  • University housing supplement for external participants
