We've got you covered! The TRIO McNair Scholars Program is more than a research program. Scholars have the opportunity to develop their research and leadership skills while simultaneously preparing for graduate schooland building community with their peers. We are now accepting applicants for the 2026 McNair Scholars Cohort! McNair Program At-a-Glance: |
The goal of McNair Scholars is to give undergraduate students intensive, faculty-driven research experiences and prepare students for entry into graduate school. During the academic year(s) and summer program students will: - Develop a strong relationship with a professor that is essential for applying to graduate school
- Receive a $6,000 stipend and additional stipend during the academic year
- Earn three-course credits (EPSY 3002: Engaging the Research Process)
- Conduct research around an area of your choice
- Develop a quality research paper and poster
- Receive guidance through the graduate school process (e.g. identify graduate programs, write a personal statement, create a curriculum vitae).
- Present at a research symposium.

Eligibility for the McNair Scholars Program includes students who are first-generation, students who are income-eligible, and students who meet other criteria defined by federal regulations. To see if you qualify, fill out the McNair Interest Form. Additionally, you must be: A full-time sophomore or junior A student with a GPA of 2.75 or above A student who demonstrates strong writing skills and academic performance in major courses
